Cross-Save was announced by Bungie earlier this month when the developer revealed its plans for this fall’s Shadowkeep expansion. The feature allows players to choose a primary account that they can then access on any platform (PC, PS4, and Xbox One). While not Cross-Play, this is a feature for which many fans have been asking.
This particular maintenance period on June 27th looks like it will be the first of a number of server downtimes that Destiny 2 will experience on the march up to the September 17th launch of Year 3 and the Shadowkeep expansion. Bungie community manager dmg04 posted on the Destiny subreddit saying that these are coming in addition to the June 27th maintenance:
The server downtime should not affect any kind of limited time activity in Destiny 2 considering that it is a bit of a quiet week in game. Iron Banner ended with this week’s reset and while the Menagerie Heroic mode launched this week, players should still have plenty of time to attempt the harder version of the 6-player activity before next week’s reset.
“There’s a bit to do on the back end to prep for fall and Cross Save. We’ll have a few more maintenance windows. No current details on length or dates just yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do. Cheers, to a bright future.”
But players should be aware that they will not be able to log into Destiny 2 or Destiny 1 during this maintenance window. One of the best places to find out if Destiny 2 is back online is Bungie’s help-focused account on Twitter, @BungieHelp. Look for servers to be back up by 7 p.m. PDT.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases September 17, 2019 for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
